How do I become a member?

All information on becoming a member can be found in the membership section of this website.

Where do membership fees go?

All membership fees will be used towards non-profit purposes as well as administration and operational costs for WBEA. All goodwill donations from WBEA will be given to organizations approved by the Board. Administration and operational costs include staff wages, office rent and miscellaneous expenses, as well as any fees related to events hosted by the Association.

What has WBEA done?

Since inception WBEA has been actively involved with the educational sector. The Association has hosted conferences to teach students about corporate social responsibility; establishing a presence with universities in China, namely Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Recently WBEA hosted a large charity event in Nanjing to help the victims in the snow storm that swept numerous provinces in China. Millions of people were affected and tens of thousands left homeless; WBEA raised over $100m RMB for the central government to pass onto the less fortunate in the form of food, shelter, and clothing. For more information on past WBEA events, please visit the news section.

When is the next WBEA event?

WBEA is currently organizing the first annual environmental conference in Shanghai. Global business leaders will attend this event and given an opportunity to discuss environmental issues affecting the world’s economy. To be on the mailing list for WBEA’s upcoming events, please contact info@worldbea.com

Is WBEA a business?

Part of WBEA’s plan is to invest in social enterprises as an Association, but we are a non-profit organization and are not classified as a business. The Association assists social entrepreneurs in seeking venture capital and funding for feasible business proposals, also finding the right partners where necessary. WBEA will become a part of businesses approved by the Board and also a bridge for business exchange and expansion for our members.

Does WBEA make a profit?

WBEA is a non-profit organization. Our financial situation is like most other organizations and changes from year to year. When there is a surplus, it gets reinvested into administration and operational costs, expenses related to events hosted by the Association, and given to other organizations as goodwill donations.

Profits Are Good For WBEA?

There is a common misconception that profits contradict goodwill and charity; and that charity should not come with profit making. Any business requires profits to be successful, and successful businesses lead to sustainable economic development. Similarly, organizations like WBEA need surplus to sustain its operations and carry out its mission. We recognize that many non-profit and charitable organizations’ struggle come from the fact that they solely rely on donations; these donations are unpredictable and not guaranteed. In order for WBEA not to encounter the same struggle we need to find ways to become self sustainable. Though we encourage and welcome donations from our supporters, at the same time we must find ways to generate our own surplus. This will help WBEA achieve long lasting success, leaping towards a harmonious society. WBEA strives to be one of the few successful self sustainable non-profit organizations in the world.
